Alpine Adventure 2022

EMTB Forums Social Alpine Gathering:  5-9 or 2-9 July 2022

If you’re reading this, you probably already know quite a bit about Rob Hancill and EMTB Forums.  We first met Rob in 2021 when he completed the inaugural Trans-Savoie 50/50 on his Specialized Levo. During the event, we found we had a lot in common: the share of a real and genuine passion for Mountain Bikes, an eagerness to explore ever bigger backcountry adventures given the enabler of new E-Bike technologies; and especially the social side of sharing an epic week’s adventure on 2 wheels with like-minded riders from all over Europe and beyond.   We agree that it’s certainly a great way to meet new friends and form a lasting connection. 

In fact, that’s probably why Rob and Ali (trailAddiction lead guide and creator of the Trans-Savoie 50/50) kept in touch after the event.  We soon realised that we really wanted to find a way to combine our separate passions and expertise into an experience that could be easily accessible for others to enjoy, too.

Following several video-calls across continents to thrash out the details, we are excited to announce a new collaboration between trailAddiction and EMTB Forums for 2022 that we feel offers just that.

We’d like to invite up to 14 EMTB Forum members to join Rob and Ali out at trailAddiction HQ – a traditional Chalet in the heart of the French Alps – on a bespoke trip of 4 days superb backcountry Alpine riding,  whilst sharing our stories and ideas about bikes & new bike technology….and listening to yours.

This bespoke trip is not planned to be an exact copy of the Trans-Savoie Route, but we’ll certainly take in some of the highlights of the Trans-Savoie event.  (Anyone for 1500m+ singletrack descents?!). Neither is it intended to be some kind of adult summer camp.  Much more like “Let’s go shred and have some great times together, lets all make a few mistakes and laugh about it together, let’s talk bikes and exchange ideas over a cold beer and great food each evening”.

Rob is currently in discussion with various brand-partners to bring in an element of E-Bike demo, review, and showcase to the trip – after all, that’s Rob’s Day job…and we know from following the forum that you all love to try out new tech and share your feedback on what’s good and bad about it.

Based out of trailAddiction’s centrally-located Alpine Chalet in Les Arcs, the riding will be led by Ali and supported by trailAddiction’s expert guides, and shuttle vehicles…on some of the best Alpine singletrack you’ll find in the Alps.  A maximum of 14 slots are available (to split into two smaller ride-groups).

The package price of €795 includes

  • a 4-night stay in our Luxury ensuite chalet accommodation (inc. Jacuzzi)
  • Full-board catering & drinks prepared on-site by our resident chef
  • Unlimited Beer, Wine, and soft drinks, all week
  • A Dedicated onsite workshop& Secure Bike storage
  • Guiding in small, focused ride groups
  • Minibus uplifts & Emergency support where needed
  • Shared Rides, Story-telling, and general bike-related chat with Rob (who will be spending the whole week staying at the chalet with us)
  • An opportunity to review the day’s riding and share stories over dinner, wine and beers each night with Rob and other EMTB forum members

Extended Option: Include an entry to Enduro2 (trailAddiction’s 3-Day Pair’s Format Enduro)

Make a full week of it and cram in just about as much action as you can handle on a bike.

Enduro2 is a very popular event, and places usually sell out immediately. However, we’re saving a few “special” guaranteed entries exclusively for Rob and EMTB Forum members who are keen to join Rob in taking part during the race itself and then to stay on for the special Alpine week as described above.

The event starts early on Saturday 2nd July 2022 and accommodation can be booked from Friday 1st (or earlier), if needed.    Its pair’s format, so you’ll need a race-buddy.  However we’d be happy to team you up with another solo rider in the EMTB group, if you need one.

Catering and accommodation options are available to compliment your race entry – transfer to the trailAddiction Chalet with Rob and the rest of the EMTB Forum group on Tuesday 5th July.
