Gareth Bateman – Senior Guide, Les Arcs
I’m Gareth Bateman, 22 years old and from South West Wales. I’ll be working with trailAddiction this year as a guide, following on from my work last year as a driver / mechanic and Guide in Training. Currently I work for the aptly named MudTrek Mountain Bike Breaks in Brechfa, South Wales where I’m commonly riding my Stanton Slackline hardtail or my Nukeproof Mega TR from last season. One of the things I’m really looking forward to this season is putting the Mega’s new 650b wheels to the test and seeing if they will live up to the hype as such, I’ll be aboard the TR again this season as I’ve always appreciated lightweight but capable bikes. The biggest thing I’m looking forward to though is catching up with friends from last season and meeting a load of like minded people every week. It’ll also be fun to be writing off brake pads and tyres every few weeks again!
