Press and Reviews / Singletrack Magazine

Singletrack Magazine December 2011

Jon Woodhouse from Singletrack Magazine visited Destination X (Areches-Beaufort) and wrote a glowing review of our new resort base.

“In the treeline the trail has massive natural berms which are feet high and I hear a burst of excitement from the Dutch guys… the only thing I can make out is ‘super bobsleigh bahn’, which seems to sum that section up pretty damn well.”

“Every ten minutes the trail changes character; it’s a mountain biker pick ‘n’ mix, in fact it’s a bloody all-you-can-eat buffet. We’ve certainly gorged by the time we get to the quiet little village that sits at the heart of this wonderland.”

“A very welcome shower and some fresh clothing follow, before we feast on delicious food. We stand and prop the bar afterwards, still excitedly talking before submitting to tiredness…”

Singletrack Magazine December 2005

Singletrack Magazine featured an article describing our Backcountry Daytrip called HEIDI.

“It’s top quality, hardpack singletrack all the way; the top half is a virtual rollercoaster, sweeping through mellow-graded open ground near the Col; the bottom half is a much tighter and twister affair dropping through the woods of Le Fornet and Le Laisinant.”

“[We were] almost immediately in the grips of one of the most exciting sections of singletrack I’ve ever ridden. Twisting and turning, faster, slower, faster, slower, down through a wonderfully eclectic wilderness of scattered pines. With fleeting glimpses of the surrounding near 4000m high snowy peaks, this was undiluted mountain biking heaven and it seemed to go on forever.”

“…In terms of quality, quantity and variety, this had been the best of all the mountain biking escapades I’ve experienced”

“This is alpine singletrack at it\\\’s very best, riding simply doesn\\\’t get better than this.” – Ian Jones, UK

“For my sort of riding and bike (5″-6″ is perfect), this is soooo much better than Morzine/Les Gets. Last couple of years in PdS never improved my riding as much as this holiday did. trailAddiction are the only guys doing this sort of holiday in this great resort and they do a really good job. Gordy and Sophie made the best dinners I\\\’ve ever had in the Alps, summer or winter, full stop. Completely recommended.”- Graeme MacLean, UK

“THE 6 BEST DAYS I HAVE HAD ON MY BIKE EVER! The trails are pristine and natural. The scenery is magnificent and the guides were brilliant. This will definately be an annual pilgrimmage for me.” – Kayn Woolmer, South Africa

“The guides went out of their way to understand the kind of riding we wanted to do and did a brilliant job of tailoring the holiday to suite. The ratio of guides to guests was outstanding and everyone was very laid back (without being unprofessional), it really felt like we were riding with friends rather than on a guided holiday. Brilliant trails, brilliant company, I can\\\’t recommend them highly enough! – Lee Sheldon

“After a while I couldn\\\’t remember what a particular descent was like, since the next seemed better! Guides are essential to get the most out of the area since there are so many tracks everywhere.” – Dave Wills, UK

“TrailAddiction bills its self as the ultimate alpine singletrack experience. There is no doubt in my mind about that. There is though an important word in there – ALPINE. This isnt the North downs, Quantocks, Lake District, Welsh or Scotish Singletrack. Its in a league all of its own. Imagine any of those places, take the fastest or steepest or trickiest most fun bit of trail, imagine it totally natural and BIGGER and I think your probably getting close to what trailAddiction would show you.” – Stephen Wills, UK

“This has been a first for me – a mountain bike experience which actually met all my expectations. You certainly have a number of unique selling points which puts trailAddiction in a very healthy position for the future. A true customer focus from staff who mirror your passion. Splendid quality right across the package – from transfers, to accommodation, food, the location/trails. THANKYOU!” – Pete Brown, UK

“The riding was top notch – having ridden in Morzine 3 years previously it was great to find somewhere new and also with top quality singletrack as yet unspoilt by excessive usage” – Ian Merity, UK

“Damn, these trails are good. If I\\\’d known I had to ride with a b*ner the whole time, I\\\’d have brought bigger shorts!” – Brent Carpenter, South Africa
